Statement on Additional Questionable Expenses Report for Ward 2
FEB. 16, 2021
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Calgary, AB - Kim Tyers, Ward 2 City Council Candidate issued the following statement following a new report showing additional questionable expenditures for the current Ward 2 City Councillor.
“Reports have again surfaced showing more ineligible expenses from our current City Councillor that will need to be repaid to the city. I have been speaking with the community for several months now, and one thing is perfectly clear: Ward 2 members are tired of hearing about this.
“An elected official is a steward of the public purse and Calgarians should be confident in the proper usage of their taxpayer dollars. I again reiterate my call for the resignation of the current Ward 2 City Councillor. He needs to resign.
“This unfortunate escalating financial issue has shown that Current City Councillor expense policies are inadequate. As current City Councillors approve the expenses, this can be considered a conflict of interest. The honor system at City Hall is not enough. There needs to be more checks and balances in place to protect taxpayer dollars.
“The residents of Ward 2 are demanding change and I am working hard to usher in that change. I am running for City Council to bring back accountability, transparency and fiscal responsibility to the City of Calgary. I will restore the accountability that is so desperately needed in Ward 2 and fight to protect the taxpayer dollars.”
