Calgary, AB – Kim Tyers, Ward 2 Calgary City Council candidate issued the following statement in response to news that Joe Magliocca has been charged by the RCMP for alleged fraud and breach of trust:

“Joe Magliocca should resign immediately and withdraw his name from the current election.

“Today’s news of charges show that Joe Magliocca is unfit to hold public office and is undeserving of the trust that was placed in him by Ward 2 voters.

“In this election, voters have told me that character matters and that our community deserves better. Ward 2 desperately needs change and I am seeking to restore accountability, transparency and respect for taxpayer dollars back to Ward 2 if elected as Councillor.

“Enough is enough. Joe needs to go and if he won’t do the honourable thing and resign then I fully expect that Ward 2 voters are going to show him the door on October 18.

“If elected, I look forward to working with Calgary City Council and the provincial government to bring in strong accountability measures to prevent this type of behaviour from happening in the future.”
